Wolf Haven International Visit

We made it to Tenino just in time for the 3pm tour at Wolf Haven International. You were unable to walk around on your own as there was a big focus on keeping the wolves calm. You had to stay in a group and remain reasonably quiet while the tour guide took us around to 7 or 8 habitats that had 2 wolves each. There were Grey Wolves, Red Wolves and Mexican Grey Wolves. Totally awesome to see these guys up close. Kind of a neat fact, they highway department saves road kill for the wolves so that they are still eating their natural foods... I thought that was kind of neat!

Grey Wolf named Shadow

Shadow was particularly friendly/curious about us, he stayed up front the whole time.

Another Grey wolf... they come in all colors

Mexican Grey Wolf... this was my favorite, so cute!

I am a Goonie...

When we arrived in Astoria, I just had to go to the Goonie House... we found it easily, and even though it is privately own house now, they are still cool about people walking up for picture ops which I just had to do!

Astoria Column

I am not sure of the significance to this Column... it was at the top of the hill and you can see for miles and miles around. We started to go up the inside for the view at the top, but we turned around a third of the way up, it was way too creepy and claustrophobic inside, there was barely room for one person to go up the stairs. I don't regret turning around!!! The outside of the column seemed to be imprinted with the history of the area, it was pretty cool.

Seaside Beach... so nice!

We arrived in Seaside in the evening and it was beautiful... the weather was amazing, the sun was starting to set. We went for a little walk out on the beach... a really nice evening after a long day of driving!!

All Clean!

Today after work Tag got a bath... it was quite the production, I closed him into the bathroom with me and coaxed him into the tub climbing up on rubbermaid bins (now that he knows the tub means a bath, he will never go in as easily again) and then shut the sliding doors with me and him inside. He actually did quite well, and the mess was contained, so I would try this again... I was hoping to use the hose outside as per usual but the weather hasn't been cooperating and my time is limited before  I have to drop him off at Dad and Jeanie's Friday before we leave for our trip Saturday morning... plus I have that Management Accounting final first thing Thursday morning (can't wait until that is over) anyhow, gotta keep studying... I am going to fit one 'run' in with Nadia as a break tomorrow after work (I really shouldn't, but I will need the mental break)... wish me luck! Gonna be a busy few days!

My little veggie garden...

Last year I had that big veggie garden at work... this year, I decided to downsize... I rearranged the garden area around the deck. One half is flowers and such, the other side is my garden. I did 2 small rows of carrots, a large pot with herbs and 4 pots that will have lettuce in them. I started the first pot of lettuce and every week after, I will plant the next so we have fresh lettuce for a long time! Hopefully it works!

Mom gave us all Gerbera's for Easter, I picked out the pink one... sure is pretty!

Spring is here!

Brian and I needed to take a trip to the dump after a little spring cleaning over the long weekend. Aldergrove Lake Park is right down the street so we took Tag along to go for a walk after... it was such a nice day out!

Happy Easter!

We all had a fun time at Dad & Jeanie's for Easter! Julie put together a Easter Egg hunt for the kids in the back yard and Jeanie made an amazing meal. It was also great to finally have some nice weather!

Poor Sophie was looking a bit beat up... she had road rash from a previous trip and fall and kept bumping her head and nose on things...

Happy 65th Birthday Doug!

Happy 65th Birthday Doug!
I asked Doug what type of cake he would like for his birthday and he wanted a Carrot Cake with Butter Cream Icing... I have never made carrot cake before, so the search was on for the perfect recipe, and I definitely found it! (Carrot, Raisins, Crushed Pineapple, Coconut and Buttermilk) I did 3 layers with Bavarian creme in between... Everyone loved the cake!! Surprising to have carrot cake be a hit!

The party at Doug's place in White Rock was great... apparently it was the first time the kids were all together in about 10 years! Crazy... anyhow, it was a wonderful time, great food, drink and great company!

Happy Birthday to Julie & Cali!

So this year I missed out on Julie and Cali's birthday Tea Party! I felt so bad, but I was so sick. I managed to make all the cookies and the cake for the party (I promise I did not breathe or cough or lick anything!!!) Anyhow, the desserts turned out awesome... Brian and I dropped them off at Julie's when they were out so they didn't catch our germs (Brian was sick too).
