Going Home...

We had a comfortable sleep in a small cabin next to the main cabin.... and no one would believe the amazing outhouse they had on the property without seeing it...

The guest Cabin we stayed in

Carol and Hughie's Cabin from the Dock

The gate on the way out.... so sad to be leaving!

I found the perfect rolls of hay for photographing just as we were leaving Big Lake

I think this was in around Spences Bridge... they had signs warning to look out for the big horned sheep, and they were not kidding... about 20 of them decided to walk across the highway in front of us and other cars!

We had such a good time on our road trip... 2,600 km and 9 days... we are tired, but it was so worth it!

Feeling lost at Big Lake

We arrived in Prince George last night and stayed at the Sandman... we had to pay this time and it was not near as nice, half as nice.... or even nice! Yes, call me a princess, but after those other 2 beautiful rooms we stayed in, I had expectations!!!

Today we were excited for the short drive (3.5hrs) to meet up with Dad and Jeanie in Big Lake to go to Carol and Hughie's cabin. A long story, rather should I say, a long drive short....1.5hrs down a dirt road with no cell service, no gps, no nothing... we felt a bit lost, but just had no way to communicate.... Eventually we got cell service and got things sorted out!
Jeanie husking corn for the awesome steak dinner we had! Sooooo good... also, a homemade peach pie!

Dad on the dock with Boudika catching Skwah fish (sp??)

Carol and Hughie have an amazing place on the lake... it was soooooooo quiet and soooooo pretty. Brian and I both felt super lucky to have been invited!

Brian sighting in his new scope for his new rifle

The guys...

Carol and Hughie's 4 year old grandson Alex... he was picking up all the bullet shells and zipping them into the pocket on the front of his shirt

Hughie with his gun.... shooting, cigarette in hand... haha

So hard done by....

Alex was super excited to get to shoot one of Brian's rifles

After dark, we discovered Toads all over the property.... I was trying to block him with my shoes so we could get pictures and he started trying to climb through my pants!

So cool... there were quite a few, but this one was the biggest!

Jasper to Prince George

After an absolutely freeeeeeezing cold night... we had a special visitor in our campsite! There was a Grey Owl  up in the tree... I tried to sneak up behind it to get a good picture, it totally freaked me out when it turned its head around and glared at me with those bright yellow eyes!!!! I wish I had a better picture...

Patricia Lake in Jasper
I thought Jasper was going to be much bigger than it was... small area, not like Banff  at all!

Another view of Patricia Lake

A cool rock with crystals inside that I found on the beach... too big to bring home though!!

I loved all the white bark trees in the area... totally different that what we have here!

I know this picture is kind of random... After we left Jasper and drove for hours, we ended up in McBride, BC at the  Info Centre and this is how this small town did up their women's bathroom mirror.... oh boy!

Road Trip Day 6

West Edmonton Mall was huge! But so was every thing else in Edmonton! Great city... So we have almost made it to Jasper but after checking out prices there we thought it would be much cheaper to stay in Hinton which is an hour east of Jasper... Wish us luck, it's cold!!

Shopping and More camping... Where is Hinton?

After our super nice stay at the Sandman... we headed off to West Edmonton Mall. It was soooo huge, my only real goal was to find the Victoria's Secret and get some new underwear! Fun right? haha...
I loved the pirate ship in the mall... sooo cool, you can actually have events on the boat!!
After the mall, we headed to Wholesale Sports where Brian picked up a new rifle and scope. Smart idea, no HST!! Just GST. Then we started the long drive to Hinton for another night of camping.

We took a leg stretch break on a farm road... it was starting to rain, but in the flat  areas, you can always see where the rain ends, like a light at the end of the tunnel quite literally!

We arrived in Hinton and grabbed some groceries before heading to the campground... it was like a half hour or so drive into the middle of no where. I have to say this was the first night I was truly worried about wild animals.

The fire I started... unfortunately, I didnt make a good enough base and Brian had to start it over...

Dinner was smokies and kraft dinner!!

Brian playing with his new rifle...

Brian made a wall to hide behind so as not to worry the other campers....
