Hiking, Picnics, etc.

Brian is on holidays this week and I joined him yesterday (yes I know I just gave my notice at work but I still need a holiday!). We relaxed yesterday... I had to do a little shopping for some new clothes for my new job... Today, we decided to go hiking! We went up to Chilliwack Lake Provincial park and did an hour hike and then a picnic at Chilliwack lake. We couldnt go to the beach because of Tag...

I really wanted to hang out at the water so after our picnic, we headed back towards town and found Allison Pool Rec. Area and headed down to the river...

Tag is way to adventurous sometimes, I had to yell at him to come back before he headed around the corner!

News!

I got a new job! I am so excited, its more money, more opportunity and best of all, 7 minutes from home! No more commuting!!!! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will miss the people at my old job, but it just wasn't going to work long term for me.

Cultis Lake... a beach finally!

I felt bad we didn`t make it to the beach earlier in the week so I suggested we try again today... we finally made it! We went to Cultis and luckily it wasnt too busy. Cali had alot of fun with me and Nana in the water while Mommy sat and watched from the shade (it was really hot out).

My attempt at a garden

I found rudbeckia at work that I thought looked really pretty... along with liking the looks, turns out its late summer, autumn blooming flower so its perfect to plant in our small garden area. I bought 8 flowers, some garden soil and some mini fences (to keep Tag out) and tried my hand at gardening. I admit, it looks a little simple, but gardening is not my thing. Hope they work out!!

The Beach... it didnt work out...

Last Tuesday I asked Julie and Cali to go to the beach with me after I was done work. I thought it would be fun to take Cali and Tag to the ocean where we all used to look for crabs in tide pools with Mom when we were kids.... Long story short, tide was in, no safe place to get to the beach, etc... we ended up at Semiahmoo Park next to the border for a picnic Subway dinner!

Fish & Fruit

It finally feels like that time of year again where food is fresh and you actually want to eat somewhat healthy! Dad was generous to share a couple Spring Salmon steaks with Brian and I... Brian doesn't like fish at all, but I was able to steam it on the BBQ and make it so tastey that Brian totally enjoyed it.... can you guess which one is mine and which is Brians? Haha...

I picked the raspberries from Mom's yard when everyone was away and decided to make some cobbler... I made one half with the fresh raspberries and the other with apricots... super yummy and in honor of Nana who used to make us such yummy desserts when we were up at the cabin. (lots of good memories)

Wedding Retouching Done!

Since I had to stay out of the sun this weekend, I was able to get all my retouching done for Peter & Holger's wedding... and, made them a scrapbook-esk wedding album as well. I felt bad as I am not giving them the regular leather DVD folio I usually give. I only have one left and I was saving it (for Mom).

Here is a dog that isnt impressed with me over the last day and a half... avoiding the sun means I am avoiding walks with Tag too. Poor puppy... Brian still takes him out!!

Ever climbed stairs with a backpack full of rocks?

Brian and I headed to the Ocean early this morning before the sun got too hot (due to my aweful burns from yesterday). Brian wants to use beach rocks for some landscaping at our place so we went looking for them. We went to the beach that was out of the way and has a crazy amount of stairs to get down to the beach... going down was no big deal, but hiking up stairs with 35-50lbs of rocks in your backpack definately gives you a good leg and butt work out!

Picnic at the Beach

We all got together today at the beach, most of the family was there except for Aaron and Brian who were both working. The kids all had a great time playing in the water and eating all my lunch (I had pickles, cheese, pepperoni and... smarties!)

It was a fun day for everyone and I hope no one is as burnt as I am... stupid me, 3 hours in the sun and no sunscreen... I don't remember ever being as burnt as I am right now! Ouch!
