Seahorse Cookies

I had to make the kids cookies for the upcoming camping trip... this is what good aunts do! Mom had given me a seahorse cookie cutter a while back so this was the perfect opportunity!

Brian discovered if you put the cookie on its side, it looked like a Dinosaur, so I made one like that!

Smith Creek Fire

The day the fire started, Brian and I met after work at the Walmart for groceries and got quite the view of the fire. From the time we went in the store till we left, the fire had dramatically increased in size.

Brian was riding his bike that day and was able to get some good video footage of the fire

The fire was on the other side of the hill from us (a canyon between)

We had an 'airshow' all night of water/fire retardant bombers... impressive how hard everyone worked.

The fire was contained after a few days and we were so lucky the wind was blowing away from us... the fire was as close as 2 km from our home.

Rainbow Layer Cake

I had seen this cake in the Kraft Kitchens Magazine and just had to make it... luckily I had an excuse, Brian's Dad and sister Lorissa were coming out for the weekend!

So delicious!

Kalamoir with Tag and Kona

This picture was taken not long before I lost Kona in the park. I took the dogs for a hike on my own... Kona hasn't run off in a long time now, not sure what made her do it, but she took off up the mountain in an area there was no way I could even climb. She was gone for probably about 20 min before I heard commotion that lead me to find that someone else had caught her and she was safe. So scary! A week later, we had to take Kona to the Emergency Vet as she had spear grass next to her eardrums on both sides from her little getaway.

Neighborhood Garage Sale

We had a neighborhood garage sale this morning! Probably about 8 houses I could see participated so it was more of a walk around flea market. People parked all over the street wandering around. It was great! Since we didn't have a tonne of stuff, this was a great way to do it. We did end up making $95!

Just another Sunday

We took the dogs hiking at Rose Valley this morning. Its a great trail, but not great for dogs who need water as there is none... I think next time we go, Tag and Kona will stay home.

One of Tag's many protests (flopping in the grass) about this hike!
When we got home, I started working on the Tent Trailer. Opened it up and started doing a bit of cleaning, its really a great little RV, can't wait to start using it!

2 hikes with Kona

While Brian is working on call at home, I grabbed Kona to head out for a hike. Its an amazing morning and so quiet (8am).

Overlooking the lake at Bear Creek

Why are going up stairs tougher than steep hills?!

oh, gotta go down now!

Our hike at Bear Creek was only 40 min so we decided to check out Kalamoir too... another beautiful view of the lake

We discovered caves on the lake, I have never seen anything like this in the Okanagan before, so pretty.

Good time for a little swim too!

Happy 2nd Birthday Kona!

Our little puppy turned 2 today! Can't believe she has gotten that old already!

Posing with her big brother, although worried about the theft of her new toy!

Relaxing with her new dragon

Ready to go out on a birthday hike!

Picking Up the Tent Trailer

Another quick trip to the lower mainland... this time, to buy a tent trailer from Aaron and Steph!

A break at Merrit

Brian with the dogs at an abandoned campsite we found outside of Chilliwack

Visiting the girls... darn those fruit rollups! They make blue tongues!

oh no, not another one!

Before we headed back home, Mom and Elliott insisted a quick wheel check... thanks guys!

We made it home with no issues, just a heavier load... its quite the lengthy thing when its all hooked up together!

The Last of the Rocks

After finishing the other rock bed, I still had rocks left over. I decided to clean up the area under the Japanese Maple... the soil was all hard, lava rock that used to be there was every where else other than where it should have been and there was a rather large hole dug on the corner... Kona??? So I cleaned up the edging of the box, added the remaining rocks from the sewer dig and then filled it all in with the Lava rock that was extra from where I put the dog houses under the trees. It looks sooo much better! Ignore the pink tape... that area is blocked off from dogs, trying to grow grass there and then we are going to put in our fire pit!
